
Staff of Community Medicine Department, Infection Prevention and Control Unit (IPC) alongside Department of Microbiology Federal Teaching Hospital Katsina during the year 2025 World Hand Hygiene Day held on Monday 5th May 2025.
The event was anchored on the theme “it might be gloves. It’s always hand hygiene”. The programme was commemorated with power walk within the Hospital, sensitization talks across various departments and presentation by Dr. Abdallah Sanda (Consultant Clinical Microbiologist and IPC Focal Person FTHK) on proper hand hygiene.
The presentation was to promote optimal hand hygiene practices (using the appropriate technique in relations to the WHO 5 Moments) as well as the times for appropriate glove use within the health care workflow.
The event had in attendance the Chief Medical Director, Dr. Suleiman B.M, the SERVICOM NODAL Officer, Dr. Ibrahim Salisu, Head of Community Health Department, Dr. Abduljalil U.A, Head of Nursing Services, Nr. Risikat Shittu as well as representatives from World Health Organization (WHO) and Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF).
