The Department of Haematology & Blood Transfusion and Department of Pediatrics, Federal Teaching Hospital Katsina in collaboration with Sickle Cell Alleviation initiative (SCAI) and Sickle Cell Home(SCH) marked this year’s World Sickle Cell Day on Thursday 20th June, 2025 at the Hospital’s Conference Hall. The event was commemorated with the theme: “Global action, Local impact: Empowering Communities for effective self-Advocacy”- Tell it Loud.Highlights of the event included lectures aimed at increasing public knowledge and understanding of sickle cell disease, challenges faced by the patients and caregivers, its prevention and personal care for the warriors.The event also featured donation of free drugs as well as presentation of awards to individuals who have supported greatly to the cause in Katsina State.
